Europe – Scandinavian Enviro Systems A.B. has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canadian firm ArticCan Energy Services, for which it will construct a hi-tech tyre recycling plant.

Enviro, based in Sweden, has developed patented technology that can recover carbon black, oil, steel as well as gas ftom end-of-life tyres. It reveals that the 18-month agreement with ArticCan Energy will rely on this know-how so the modern-day recycling site – to be built in Saskatchewan – may process 30 000 tonnes of used tyres every year.

‘Canada is a very important market for us,’ says Enviro ceo Thomas Soerensson. ‘Several leading tyre manufacturers are established in the region and there is also a high presence of other rubber producers as well,’ he argues.
