Car recyclers – processing anything from steel, batteries, plastics & compounds, tyres and glass to electric components – are taking steps to keep up with all these changes. The worldwide automotive interior materials sector is expected to grow by US$ 26.4 billion from 2020 to 2025, according to research firm Technavio. This represents a compound annual growth rate of more than 4%. Market analysts believe that most (52%) growth in this market will originate from the Asia Pacific region during the forecast period. Also, the plastic polymer segment will be ‘significant’ for revenue generation in the near future as plastic polymer materials bear high importance for interior module weight reductions.
Main themes at the IARC, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland from 5-7 July, include eco-design of cars, recycled content, e-mobility trends and battery recycling challenges.
