Gneuss recycling lines a big success in Brazil

Brazil – Two Brazilian recyclers – Unnafibras Textil and Nova Pack Embalagens – have recently purchased machinery from German manufacturer Gneuss Kunststofftechnik.

A national leader in PET fibre recycling, Unnafibras has installed three lines in total – one of which will serve bottle-to-bottle recycling while the others will target textile fibres. The lines are already running at full speed at the company’s headquarters in Santo André where co-extruded polyester fibres production has reached 1500 kg per hour. Meanwhile, the line at Paraiba converts PET bottles into pellets and has a capacity averaging 2000 kg per hour.

Nova Pack, which had already been operating Gneuss Rotary Filtration Systems for around five years, has acquired a Multi-Rotation System Extruder to assist in the production of packaging from 100% recyclable material. The Gneuss extruder is for de-humidification of the recycled material without cost-intensive pre-treatment, and for safe removal of contaminated particles.

‘We have mainly been convinced by the low costs and the high transparency of the produced film; none of these factors could be realised with traditional systems,’ states Nova Pack’s Managing Director Ivanor Luis Arioli.
