The steady growth in e-commerce in tandem with the substitution of plastics in packaging is rocking the global paper industry. The question is; are these trends sufficient to keep paper and board recyclers busy and profitable?
Industry specialists will give their opinion on the topic at next week’s BIR gathering in Barcelona, Spain. The BIR Paper Division meeting on May 23 chaired by divisional President Francisco Donoso, DOLAF Servicios Verdes S.L will provide not only a timely snapshot of all the key factors impacting the paper recycling sector but also an assessment of future prospects as well as an overview of the latest statistical figures.
Additionally, recently appointed divisional General Delegate Manuel Dominguez Dominguez (REPACAR) will talk about new European regulations regarding international movements of recovered paper.
BIR speakers will touch upon the results of the Russia-Ukraine war, current supply chain disruptions, huge increases in freight and energy costs as well as stricter import controls on our industry’s products, notably in Malaysia.
Recycling International is among the 1000+ delegates attending the gathering and will publish an article about the event in the upcoming issue.
