Freedom run for Randy Goodman

United States – Randy Goodman, a well-known figure in the US scrap export business, is taking up the new position of Executive Vice President at Freedom Metals, a mid-sized family-run scrap processor in Louisville, Kentucky.

He will be joining the management team, consisting of owners Bruce and Spencer Blue, and will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s non-ferrous metals handling.

‘I am thrilled to be joining this team,’ Mr Goodman commented. ‘Having known the family for almost 20 years, I have always been impressed with their professionalism and entrepreneurial spirit. I look forward to being an integral part of the team that takes them into the next chapter of their business.’

Mr Goodman has been in the industry for more than 21 years and previously worked for OmniSource Southeast (formerly CRG), Hugo Neu Schnitzer Joint Ventures and Recycling Industries’ Central Metals. He has also been actively involved in the industry’s trade associations over several years, including US recycling body ISRI, where he served as Chair of the Nonferrous Division, the Nonferrous Specifications Committee and the Trade Committee.

Freedom Metals runs three operations in the state of Kentucky. ‘Being a multiple generation family business is becoming a rare commodity in the scrap metal arena,’ Spencer Blue said. ‘We believe that adding Randy to our team will only help to solidify and grow our presence in the scrap industry. Randy’s extensive knowledge and down-to-earth personality make him a perfect fit for our company.’

Bruce Blue added: ‘His dedication and leadership within this industry and reputation both here, in the US, and overseas, drew our attention over the years and we are elated that we will now be able to put his unique skill sets to work within our team.’
