Global crude steel production in November 2025 was 140.1 million tonnes, a 4.6% fall on the November 2024 total.
The figures come from the output of 70 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel). The total matches a decline in production the month before with worldsteel ‘s October output being 143.3 Mt, down 5.9% compared to October 2024.
As ever, China dominates the organisation’s monthly reports. The country produced 69.9 Mt in November 2025, down 10.9% on the same month a year earlier. India’s total was 13.7 Mt, up 10.8%.
US growth
As it did in October, the United States reported near-double digit growth in producing 6.8 Mt (+8.5%). In October the monthly growth was 9.5%, almost certainly reflecting impact of US trade tariffs on steel imports.
Japan also produced 6.8 Mt in November but its total was down 1.6%. Russia is estimated to have produced 5.2 Mt (- 6.6%); South Korea 5.0 Mt (-4.8%); Türkiye 3.3 Mt (+10.0%); Germany 2.8 Mt (-2.6%); Brazil 2.8 Mt (+0.7%); and Iran 3.4 Mt (+9.2%).
