United States – Tube City IMS Corp. of the USA, which provides scrap management and other services to steel mills, has secured new contracts worth US$ 84 million.
These relate to services at steel mills in Dunkirk, France, and in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.
Tube City’s seven-year contract in Dunkirk began on July 1 and includes the handling, preparation and sizing of scrap. The seven-year contract in Abu Dhabi, which is scheduled to commence on September 1, covers material handling, hot pit furnace slag excavation and scrap management, and also marks the company’s first mill services operation in the Middle East/North African region. Raymond Kalouche, Chief Operating Officer and President of the company’s Mill Services Group, says: ‘We believe the steel industry in the Middle East/North African region will continue to grow at strong rates over the coming years.’
The US company has secured a total of six contracts worth US$ 147 million thus far in 2011.
