Germany/Russia – Metso has won its largest ever order from Russia. The German metal shredder manufacturer will deliver a plant to Vyksa Steel Works, part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), in the second quarter of 2012.
Vyksa is one of the best equipped steelworks in the Russian Federation, and a leading producer of pipe and railroad wheels. Its pipe production capacity is more than 2 million tonnes per year.
Metso’s 7,500 kW ZZ 300 x 300 shredder, with an annual capacity of up to one million tonnes, will process clean and dense shredded ferrous scrap from car bodies and miscellaneous sources to provide raw material for Vyksa’s steel production. The order, whose value was not disclosed, also includes a non-ferrous processing line.
‘When choosing the supplier, we took into account the world leading position of Metso, which has implemented dozens of similar projects,’ said Oleg Fedotov, OMK’s Head of Project.
