France – The French arm of global recycling and trading group Ecore, Guy Dauphin Environment (GDE), is expanding its presence in the east of the country.
The company has taken over Metalifer, a regional leader in the recovery and recycling of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Operating 11 yards and employing 150 people, Metalifer processes 400 000 tonnes of various grades of ferrous/non-ferrous metals per year and achieves annual sales of around Euro 150 million. GDE sites in the east of France will ‘perfectly integrate with the Metalifer yards, and will provide commercial and industrial synergies’, says Netherlands-based Ecore. All the operations in the east of France will be managed by the current Metalifer management team.
According to Ecore, this marks a new stage in its development, providing a more vertical approach to the market and expanding its international base. The locations of the Metalifer yards offer promising prospects in the wider European market, particularly in Germany, it is stated.
Rocquancourt-based GDE is now number two in the sector in France with more than 50 sites and over 1000 employees. In 2011, parent group Ecore recycled and recovered more than 3 million tonnes at its 75 sites and amassed annual sales of Euro 1.3 billion.
