Western Metals launches drive-through recycling

United States – Scrap broker and processor Western Metals Recycling, a Nucor subsidiary, has introduced a 24 000-square-foot drive-through metals recycling facility at its headquarters in Salt Lake City, USA.

Currently the tenth site in its nationwide portfolio, the new recycling centre will accept various kinds of metallic scrap, including ferrous scrap and items with an aluminium, copper and brass content. These materials can simply be driven up to the plant and placed in a weighing device, upon which an ATM-like machine dispenses bills confirming the value of the transaction.

Western employs over 300 people and runs operations in five different US states. Its Salt Lake City facility functions as the main scrap metal supplier to Nucor’€™s Plymouth steel mill in northern Utah.
