United States | Everyone’s jumping on the environmentally-friendly bandwagon these days and we mean everyone. That includes the magnificent makers of sex toys.
The Florida, United States firm Dreamscapes says it has taken a pioneering lead in the adult industry’s Go Green initiative. They have organized an environmentally friendly way to dispose of used or broken vibrators, dildos, plugs, or any other sex toys for individuals, manufacturers and other adult businesses, such as the adult movie industry.
As featured in Rolling Stone magazine’s December issue, Dreamscapes is getting the word out to consumers that they don’t have to let those old toys gather dust or pose such a hazard to our environment upon disposal. Now, when you get rid of that old, broken or unused sex toy, you can feel good that you have done one more thing to cut consumer waste, reduce toxins released into the air from waste incinerators, reduce landfill waste and help eliminate the toxic chemicals that seep into our soil and ground water.
It is simple and easy, according to Dreamscapes. Simply drop your clean used toy(s) in the mail, upon receipt, they will be cleaned and disassembled. The rubber, silicone, plastic, motorised parts and batteries will be sent to recycling facilities that will process the materials for reuse.
As incentive for consumers, Dreamscapes is offering a US$10 gift card for each package they receive for recycling.
In the UK, adult goods supplier LoveHoney had already established a similar programme, came into the news with a strange event. Police are investigating the theft of six boxes of used sex toys from the Bath based firm which were stored as part of the recycling scheme.
The firm operates an amnesty which has so far led to five tonnes of worn-out toys being sent for recycling. The six large cardboard boxes – with an estimated value of £750 – were stolen from outside the premises over the weekend. The toys had been cleaned but were not packaged. LoveHoney fears that the thieves may try to sell the items.
Anyone with information should call the local Bath police on +44 845 456 7000.
