After a public tender, the nation’s authorities have outsourced collection and recycling to three companies which were able to meet strict criteria. Prices of scrap tyres will be the same in all Slovenian regions – Euro 148 per tonne including VAT and taxes – in order to cover the costs of collection, storage and recycling. However, it is unlikely that all of the 15 000 tonnes of scrap tyres arising annually in Slovenia will become available for collection because the consumer will be asked to pay a levy when handing in old cars. As a result, it is anticipated that many scrap tyres will be dumped by the car owners.
The three Slovenian companies involved in scrap tyre recycling are: GET of Kresnic (Phone +386 1 897-7923), Kemis of Radomlje (Phone +386 1 792-5038) and Wolf Skakovci of Cankova (Phone +386 2 540-9100).
