Top accolade for Samsung’s Curved Full HD TV

United States – Samsung Electronics America has received ISRI’s 2016 Design for Recycling (DfR) Award. The company was recognised for sustainable innovation and best-in-class recyclable product design for its eco-friendly Curved Full HD TV. The award is given annually in recognition of the most innovative products designed with recycling in mind and of the proactive steps taken by manufacturers who have actively incorporated DfR principles into products and processes.

‘We’ve been developing cutting-edge products that enrich people’s lives and help address tomorrow’s environmental challenges for decades,’ said Mark Newton, head of environmental and regulatory affairs at Samsung Electronics America.

Samsung’s 2016 Curved Full HD TV incorporates easy-to-disassemble, snap-together parts that are made with minimal chemical content. The snap closures eliminate the use of many screws, making it easier for recyclers to disassemble its products. As a result, the award-winning television should take less than 10 minutes to disassemble.

The company has further enhanced the sustainability of the TV’s design by substituting conventional plastic with a novel material produced from greenhouse gas.
