United States – The Recycling Innovators Forum promises a helping hand this autumn for ‘entrepreneurs with innovative ideas for bolstering the recycling industry’.
The organisation’s annual competition to support ‘invention, originality and measurable improvements in recycling-related customer experiences, processes, technology and markets’ is underway, with an entry deadline of June 1.
The results will be announced at the sixth annual Resource Recycling Conference, to be held September 28-30 in the US city of Indianapolis. Up to 10 finalists will be invited to present their ideas to a panel of judges and an audience of investors and recycling professionals gathered at the Recycling Innovators Forum, taking place alongside the conference, and the winner will receive a US$20 000 prize to help progress their innovation.
Previous winners are Ruby Lake Glass, which colour-coats pulverised recovered glass for use in bus and bike lane demarcation, and the Regional Healthcare Plastics Recycling Demonstration Project, established to tap the recycling potential of non-infectious plastic material going from US hospitals directly to landfill.
