Recycling in the USA: recyclables revenues, business pacts & Bluebook

United States – Here’s a look at the latest industry developments from North America, courtesy of our content partner, Resource Recycling.

The four major publicly traded waste and recycling haulers in the US all saw revenues from recyclable materials decrease in the second financial quarter of 2015, compared with the same quarter in 2014. Down markets for many materials and higher costs for sortation continue to plague the industry giants.

The nonprofit group Recycling Partnership announced pacts with two southern US cities: Roanoke, Virginia and Greenville, South Carolina. The Recycling Partnership works to leverage corporate dollars to bolster local recycling programs.

Trex, a company that makes decking material from recycled plastic, indicated its looking to expand into other areas and is seeing success in its recycled polyethylene pellet business.

An Ohio-based electronics recycling company has launched a site called BlueBook that aims to help recycling firms and individuals better understand the value of their old electronics and individual components.
