Harris ‘legacy’ going forward with Avis Industrial

United States – The Harris Waste Management Group, which has been creating ferrous and non-ferrous processing equipment for more than 100 years, has been taken over by Avis Industrial Corporation, a privately-held company with nine subsidiaries throughout the USA, Canada and Mexico.

The Harris portfolio extends to a variety of balers, shears and shredders, all manufactured in Georgia in the USA. The company has additional engineering and sales offices in San Antonio, Texas, and in the UK.

‘The Harris name has a strong legacy in the recycling industry, and we want to build on that tradition by manufacturing quality products, offering exceptional customer service, while at the same time focusing on innovation and new product development,’ says Leland E. Boren, ceo of Avis Industrial.

He anticipates ‘no immediate changes’ in the Harris organisation, including in its distributor network. Given that American Baler is already an Avis subsidiary, this is an ‘ideal time’ to find synergies and capitalise on the ‘combined strength’ of both companies in the baler industry, it states.

Kenneth Galason, president of Harris, adds: ‘We are excited to be joining the Avis Industrial Corporation group of companies. The leadership at Avis has vast experience in manufacturing which we believe will only add to the success of Harris going forward.’
