ReYuze Cases is the name behind a US-based company that produces phone cases out of 100% recycled plastic collected from the streets, canals, and the landfills of Haiti, one of the poorest countries in the world.
Of every sold phone case 1 US$ goes to The First Mile Coalition to help in their efforts to address undignified child labour in plastic collection on the Caribbean island. Since its founding in 2016, the First Mile Coalition has helped 50 kids.
Working at the landfill
Some 400 families rely on waste collection in Haiti’s Truttier landfill as a primary source of income. ‘These families often face the difficult decision of involving children in this work in order to ensure the economic security and well-being of the family,’ it is explained on reyuzecases.com . Currently, around 300 children live and collect in the landfill as their source of survival.
Highschool graduate
Founder and ceo of ReYuze Cases is Jack Foley, an 18 year old highschool graduate. He started this project to save the world and help save the oceans. Growing up around the Chesapeake Bay near Washington DC and the Atlantic Ocean, Jack is an advocate for environmental conservation.
Jack’s philosophy on phone case design is to create cases that ‘accentuate the beauty and craftsmanship of the modern phone’.
