The G96-1 mobile cable granulator from Swedish cable and wire recycling equipment manufacturer BispgÃ¥rdens Verkstäder is a compact and transportable one-person machine with the ability to recover high-value metal conductor materials from scrap wire and cable.
Scrap wire is fed into the machine at a rate of 9 metres (30 feet) per minute. A series of cutters shear and slice the feedstock into small fragments which then move through a number of mechanical separators designed to sift and separate conductor material quickly and effectively from insulation materials. Plastic insulation and other waste material is picked out by an exhaust fan for collection in a disposal container.
The G96-1 is completely enclosed. The main cutter wheel has heavy metal covers while the front cover is equipped with a safety switch. An automatic brake on the main drive motor cuts the stopping cycle. The machine is said to be suitable for both small and larger wire and cable operations.
Depending on the volume of conductor material in each cable, the machine will produce approximately 150 kg (300 lb) of pure conductor granulate per hour. The entire unit weighs around 1000 kg or 2200 lb and occupies an area of around 1 m² or 10 square feet.
