Man, 82, dies in car at Munich scrapyard

German police are investigating how an elderly man died inside a car at a Munich scrapyard.

According to media reports, a crane operator at the yard in the Obersendling district of the city was scrapping old cars. He crushed the roof of one vehicle and turned it over before someone noticed the man was inside. The 82-year-old suffered fatal injuries.

Special equipment

The BBC has reported that emergency services were alerted and the fire service used special equipment to recover the man’s body. According to the police, the car did not belong to the victim.

It is believed the man, who lived in Munich, may have been at the site to collect scrap metal. Local traffic police have launched an investigation into the accident.
