UK-based home improvement and gardening store B&Q is pioneering a dedicated plant pot recycling scheme.

Discarded plastic plant pots can be returned at collection points installed at over 100 stores across the UK. These are reprocessing into plastic pellets at a nearby recycling centre, which are then used directly in the production of new plant pots.

B&Q has named the sustainable plant pot the ‘Blacksmith Planter’. The 100% recycled plastics product is weather-resistant and will be sold at its stores for £4 (EUR 4.70).

The company underlines its new scheme aims to promote resource effciency while building awareness for recycling and the circular economy.
