A new company has been formed to service the growing shredder market. Metal Shredding Solutions LLC is based in San Antonio, USA, and constitutes a full-service provider for all shredder-related components. Among its services, the company offers consulting, fabrication and spare-parts sourcing for all brands of shredder system.
The company will focus on ’providing efficient, responsive service to a core group of customers’, says company founder and President Mark Mullins, a veteran of the automobile shredder manufacturing business.
*Schnitzer Industries
Schnitzer Steel Industries Inc. of Portland, Oregon, USA, has agreed to acquire Greenleaf Auto Recyclers of Arlington, Texas, which operates a chain of 22 wholesale auto parts dealerships throughout the USA and Canada. The sum involved was US$ 23.5 million.
Schnitzer will pay an additional US$ 21.5 million to Ford Motor Co. – which owned Greenleaf until June 2003 – for five parcels of Ford real estate leased by Greenleaf. Schnitzer is making the two acquisitions through its wholly-owned subsidiaries Pick-N-Pull Auto Dismantlers and PNP Commercial Acquisition LLC.
* RecycleNet
RecycleNet Corp. of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, has acquired Industry Online Central, a ‘€˜waste exchange’€™ based in St Louis. The acquisition supports RecycleNet’€™s ‘€˜regional waste exchange’€™ programme – a free service for generators of scrap, waste and by-products that allows users to list their materials to facilitate waste diversion and minimise the amount of material going to landfill.
* Mountstar Metal Corp.
UK metals recycler Mountstar Metal Corporation has completed the expansion of its scrap operation. Originally opened early last year, it is located at Brookside Metal Company, Willenhall, and trades as Green & Willson (Willenhall) Metals. At the same time, the company has announced the closure of Green & Willson (Metals), which operated from a small site some 10 miles away at Oldbury. The management team and workforce are to transfer to the new site at Willenhall.
