For more than 30 years, the firm has been using Atlas machines for its material handling needs and, at this time, its two new 1704 MI handlers are operating up to ten hours per day and five days a week in transporting metals to the shears and balers.
Müller’s most modern material handler is currently an Atlas-Terex 1704 MI with a 1200 mm heightened cab, four stabilisers, a generator for the magnet and a 6.35 metre basic boom and 5 metre monobloc boom. Thus, the 26 tonne machine has a maximum outreach of 15.5 metres, which is generally sufficient to serve the scrap yard’€™s numerous containers. The machine is powered by a 122 kW, 2000 rpm Deutz diesel engine
The material handlers’€™ tasks are manifold: scrap has to be transported and sorted while small volumes are unloaded from trucks and lorries using a magnet. Reliability, power, comfort and speed are the main criteria for such a workload, suggests Atlas. The option of 360° boom operation is also important, it adds.
