[platte tekst]Scrap processor S. Norton & Co of Liverpool, U.K., has taken delivery of a new R 984C EW Litronic generation materials handler for ship-loading tasks and other dockside duties.
Three of Liebherr’s largest specialist materials handling machines are helping S. Norton & Co. to load scrap metal into ships’€™ cargo holds and are also carrying out general stockpiling duties at the company’€™s facilities at West Canada Dock in Liverpool.
The latest machine to join Norton’€™s fleet of Liebherr material handlers is a new generation R 984C EW Litronic which boasts a 136 tonnes operating weight, extra-wide crawler undercarriage and 7850 mm flat trackpads for maximum stability. Currently the largest Liebherr machine of its type in the U.K., it is equipped with a 12 metre straight industrial boom plus a 9 metre industrial stick, giving it a maximum height of 19 metres and a maximum reach of 22 metres.
The materials handler is fitted with Type 85 grab with 360° rotation semi-closed tines and a 4 m³ capacity. It comprises a comfortable elevating cab for maximum visibility with built-in LCD display monitor for the Litronic management system, providing real-time, menu-driven operating conditions.
Four operating modes are available, adjusting machine performance and hydraulics via a mode selector to match the application: ’Lift’€™, ‘€˜Fine’€™ for precision work, ‘€˜ECO’€™ for optimum economy and environmentally-friendly operation, and ‘€˜Power’€™ for maximum power in heavy-duty tasks.
