The 2023 Steelie Awards have been announced. They recognise company members of the World Steel Association which have made a significant contribution to the steel industry over the past year.
Three of the six Steelies awarded relate to sustainability.
Excellence in low-carbon steel production:
- HBIS Group – Unique coke oven gas zero-reforming DRI process combined with EAF
Excellence in sustainability
- POSCO – Iron-enhanced slag silicate fertiliser: how application of blast furnace slag reduces methane emissions in rice farming
Excellence in Life Cycle Assessment
- CITIC Pacific Special Steel Group – Innovation practice in China’s first product category rule for special steel used in automotive components
