United Kingdom – In expanding its Preston recycling operation in the UK, Recycling Lives has purchased and installed three complete metal separation systems from Master Magnets of Redditch near Birmingham.

Each system includes vibratory feeders, a magnetic drum and an eddy current separator. The equipment will help in the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals from shredded car bodies. Each Master Magnets metal separation system has a primary vibratory feeder, with out-of-balance motors, feeding the material on to a high-strength, permanent rare earth magnetic drum to remove the ferrous and weakly-magnetic materials.

The remaining evenly spread non-magnetic fraction then falls on to the conveyor of an eddy current separator from where the non-ferrous metal is ejected and recovered from non-metallic material. Recycling Lives has more than forty years′ experience in the recycling and waste management industry and has also been a winner of a Queen′s Award for Sustainable Development.

The company specialises in recycling cars and other forms of scrap metal, e-scrap, plastics, household/commercial waste, and bulky waste. It has expanded its operation in Preston to handle the ever-increasing input of recyclable materials, including a new plant layout and process flow for shredded car bodies.
