Guidetti Recycling Systems is celebrating a milestone that goes beyond a simple anniversary: 30 years of activity in recycling technologies. It is the journey of a company that has accompanied the evolution of the entire sector.
Through its solutions, Guidetti ensures material recovery is a key element of today’s circular economy, establishing itself as a reference point to guide the development of many players in the same field.
The company was founded in Italy in 1996 in the heart of Motor Valley, an area that runs broadly between Modena, Maranello and Bologna and encompasses the museums, showrooms and factories of such supercar names as Ferrari, Maserati, and Lamborghini.
Guidetti grew around a clear idea: to design efficient recycling systems in which Italian manufacturing tradition and cutting-edge technologies come together to maximise the valorisation of waste materials. Over time, this vision has translated into expertise in the treatment of electric cables and non-ferrous metals, a sector in which the company is now internationally recognised.
ARTISANAL ORIGINS
In the mid-1980s, Mauro Guidetti worked as an artisan, specialising in the maintenance and repair of machinery, particularly in the milling industry. In this work, he acquired knowledge, technical skills and a design-oriented approach that he would later apply to his own machines.
A request from a demolition contractor gave rise to an idea that marked a turning point in his professional career. From this need emerged the first machine designed by Guidetti to separate copper from plastic in cables, developed to address a critical market problem.
When this solution was presented in 1988, the response was immediate: the effectiveness of the separation process and the reliability of the system quickly attracted the interest of industry operators. In the following years, the business developed around this initial insight with growing commitment to technical development and constant dialogue with recyclers.
Machines were born from listening to operational needs: reliability, ease of use, robustness and the quality of the recovered material were central design criteria from the very beginning.
INDUSTRIAL GROWTH
In 1996, this journey took a decisive leap forward with the formal establishment of Guidetti Srl. This marked the transition from an artisanal operation to an industrial structure, accompanied by a change of premises and a broader entrepreneurial vision. It was the beginning of a growth phase that would lead the company to consolidate its position in the international recycling technology landscape.
At that time, the sector had very different characteristics from those of today: the circular economy was not yet a shared reference and resource recovery was driven mainly by economic considerations. In this context, Guidetti’s focus on material separation quality and process efficiency anticipated many of the needs that today define industry standards.
BUSINESS GROWTH, GLOBAL MARKETS
With the start of the 2000s, market expansion, the strengthening of environmental regulations and growing awareness of sustainable resource management encouraged expansion into international markets. Guidetti broadened its range of solutions, developing increasingly efficient plants capable
requirements. Installations multiplied across numerous countries, strengthening the image of Made in Italy technology for precision, reliability and build quality. Engineering expertise, always developed inhouse, represents a distinctive element: mechanical design and the optimisation of separation processes have continuously evolved, supporting Guidetti’s international expansion.
INNOVATION AND LEADERSHIP
Over the three decades, the common thread has been continuous improvement. For Guidetti, innovation is an ongoing process of technical refinement and adaptation to new industry demands. The growing complexity of materials, increasingly stringent quality standards and the need to reduce environmental impact have led to the development of solutions that combine high performance with efficient use of resources.
Energy efficiency, process stability, ease of operation and final product quality have become essential parameters. The experience gained has made it possible to refine treatment and separation technologies for one of the most strategic segments of the circular economy: the recovery of non-ferrous metals from mixed and complex material streams.
Guiding this journey is a family leadership that has ensured strategic coherence, long-term vision and continuity in corporate values. Mauro Guidetti continues to serve as president, providing direction and stability to the company’s evolution.
NEXT GENERATION
In 2025, a generational transition marked a new phase of development: Valentina Guidetti and Francesco Guidetti joined the management board alongside their father. They took on the respective roles of managing director, with responsibility for operational and strategic direction; and head of service and R&D, responsible for leading the technical area, product innovation and optimisation of installed plants.
This structure integrates technological development, service and industrial growth in a coherent and coordinated way.
PERFORMANCE AND SCALE
At the foundation of Guidetti’s growth is the development of machines and plants designed to ensure high-quality recovered material, process stability, and operational simplicity. From the earliest solutions for electric cable processing, the company has focused on systems capable of combining technical performance with space optimisation – a combination particularly appreciated by industry operators.
Among the most representative solutions is the Sincro Eko series, which over time has become one of the company’s flagship products. These are compact granulators designed to deliver high separation quality within a small footprint, ideal for operations requiring efficiency, ease of management and optimised energy consumption.
The integrated configuration brings together the different stages of the process into a single structure, maintaining an optimised layout and simplifying operation and maintenance.
In addition to granulators, another hallmark of Guidetti technology is the Robi series of densimetric separators, developed in the early years of the company’s activity and still widely appreciated today for their reliability, separation accuracy, and application versatility.
BEYOND GRANULATORS
Alongside compact machines, the company’s technological evolution is also expressed through large-scale modular systems such as Line MRP, a complete line for shredding, refining and separating materials. This is a state-of-the-art solution for the dry recycling of industrial waste containing non-ferrous metals derived from electric cables, WEEE, car fluff and other processing residues.
The system is based on a technology that uses not blades but hammer mills combined with dry separation systems. This approach makes it possible to obtain metal fractions with purity levels of up to 99%, while maintaining low energy consumption, reduced maintenance requirements and limited environmental impact. The modular structure of Line MRP allows the plant to be configured according to specific production needs, facilitating integration into different industrial contexts and enabling gradual expansion over time.
Within this trajectory of innovation lies the creation of Guidetti Nexort, a start-up developing an optical separator for non-ferrous metals. The goal is to make selection processes even more precise, keeping pace with the evolution of material streams and the market’s increasingly demanding quality requirements.
BROAD RECOGNITION
In the past 30 years, Guidetti has received numerous awards and recognitions nationally and internationally. Among the most significant at European level is connected to Horizon 2020, the EU programme for research and innovation. Within this framework, the MRP project received the prestigious Seal of Excellence, awarded by the European Commission to proposals of outstanding quality.
This recognition relates to Tower MRP, an innovative recycling system developed vertically across four levels. This configuration integrates multiple stages within a reduced footprint, optimising internal flows and avoiding intermediate handling. The result is reduced space requirements, lower transport and handling, decreased operating costs and improved plant efficiency.
LEADING THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY
Today, the company operates in a context where the availability of raw materials and the sustainability of production processes are strategic issues on a global scale. Recycling technologies therefore take on a value that goes beyond the technical aspect, becoming key tools for efficient resource management. It means Guidetti is a technological partner for operators investing in increasingly high-performance recovery processes.
The solutions developed transform waste into high-quality materials ready to re-enter production cycles, contributing to a reduction in the use of virgin raw materials.
A CONTINUNG STORY
The 30th anniversary of Guidetti represents a milestone in a broader journey with Guidetti Holding, an organisation that brings together diverse yet complementary entities:
• Guidetti Srl – Guidetti Recycling Systems, specialising in recycling technologies
