American Resources Corporation (AMC) has expanded the pre-processing capabilities at its Indiana facility, saying it is a major step in building a fully domestic circular life-cycle solution in the US for rare earth elements and critical minerals.

The new line at Fishers, operated by subsidiary Electrified Materials Corporation (EMC), expands the group’s ability to aggregate, process and condition magnet materials, copper, aluminium and ferrous metals recovered from end-of-life products and manufacturing scrap. The feedstock includes rare earth element and critical minerals.

Working in tandem

Recovered materials will be supplied to neighbouring subsidiary ReElement Technologies for separation, purification and refining into high-purity rare earth oxides, which are then supplied to manufacturing partners in the electrification, defence and advanced manufacturing markets.

AMC says the expansion is in response to increasing volumes of recycled feedstocks being received by EMC and growing market demand for domestically produced, high purity, rare earth oxides.

Circular supply chain

AMC chairman and ceo Mark Jensen comments: ‘This expansion represents another important step toward establishing the first fully domestic circular supply chain for rare earth elements. EMC focuses on the aggregation and pre-processing of critical mineral and rare earth feedstocks, while ReElement provides advanced separation and refining capabilities to produce ultra-high-purity materials.

‘Together, these platforms create a scalable and efficient life-cycle solution for critical minerals within the United States.’

Jensen adds that AMC’s collaborative model positions the company as a leader in circular supply chain solutions for rare earth elements and critical minerals. ‘By combining efficient material recovery with innovative refining technologies, we are building a scalable platform that supports domestic manufacturing and strengthens US mineral independence.’
