Steinert ‘broadens horizons’ in tough 2013

Germany – Major sensor-based sorting systems supplier Steinert is reinforcing its global sales activities after a ‘difficult’ year. The company has appointed a head of national sales with responsibility for Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as a head of international sales.

′Despite increased commitments in 2013, it was not possible to achieve the set targets in all markets,′ the company reports. A ′difficult′ year was characterised by falling prices for raw materials and low trading volumes while growth in the American market was ′disappointing and hence turnover remained significantly below expectations′.

However, there was also good news for the company with the establishment of Steinert China as an independent company. Furthermore, a manufacturing operation was established in Brazil and its Japanese subsidiary in Tokyo was reorganised. ′The firm keeps focusing on broadening its international horizons,′ it points out.

This year marks Steinert′s 125th anniversary, which will be celebrated with an open day at its headquarters in the German city of Cologne. Alongside presentations on the technologies used in its in-house test facility, visitor attractions will also include training sessions on current technologies organised as part of the Steinert University.
