United States – Kramer Metals, Inc. has merged its non-ferrous operations with G. Harris International to form new company Spectrum Alloys LLC. The merger is said to unite ‘two of the most well-respected, experienced and knowledgeable families’ in the US non-ferrous scrap recycling business.
‘Spectrum Alloys builds on the synergies that both companies have developed over the last several generations of operations,’ comments the new firm’s president Doug Kramer, a former chair of the US Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.
‘It combines the significant processing capabilities and industrial scrap business of Kramer Metals with the commercial and wholesale business of G. Harris to form a stronger company with unlimited growth opportunities,’ he adds.
The merger is claimed to make Spectrum Alloys one of the largest regional buyers and exporters of copper and brass scrap on the US West Coast.
In addition, the company will be engaged in purchasing select grades of aluminium and will place a strong emphasis on purchasing nickel chrome iron, nickel refinery and stainless steel.
Spectrum Alloys currently employs 30 people and operates out of Kramer Metals’ non-ferrous scrap facility in Los Angeles, California.
