Archiv – At a symposium to celebrate the 12.5th anniversary of the Dutch Metals Recycling Federation (MRF), Dutch environment minister Pieter van Geel presented the first-ever FHG Recycling Awards to Prof. Ir Wijnand Dalmijn of the Technical University of Delft and to journalist/recycling industry expert Fred Nijkerk for their internationally-acclaimed ’Handbook of Recycling Techniques’.At a symposium to celebrate the 12.5th anniversary of the Dutch Metals Recycling Federation (MRF), Dutch environment minister Pieter van Geel presented the first-ever FHG Recycling Awards to Prof. Ir Wijnand Dalmijn of the Technical University of Delft and to journalist/recycling industry expert Fred Nijkerk for their internationally-acclaimed ’Handbook of Recycling Techniques’. According to the citation, the handbook has not only provided greater insight into recycling techniques, but has also contributed substantially to a more positive image of the recycling industry.
The FHG Recycling Award consists of a work in plastic by Dutch sculptor and painter Rien Goené, together with a document of ratification.
Both winners a regular contributors to Recycling International: Mr Nijkerk presents an in-depth analysis of the steel and ferrous scrap markets in every issue, while Prof. Dalmijn compiles articles on innovative material sorting and separation technologies.
At the awards, an honourable mention was also given to Cyclas/Feniks Recycling of Zaandam, The Netherlands, for its innovative technology for recycling incinerator bottom ashes. Recycling International offers its warmest congratulations to the two main award winners and to Cyclas/Feniks.
