* EFR Delegates of the European Ferrous Recycling association (EFR) have elected Christian Rubach, CEO of Interseroh AG, Cologne, Germany, and Board Member of the German steel recycling association BDSV as its new President. Mr Rubach succeeds Anthony Bird of the U.K., who has been made EFR President of Honour in recognition of his many years’ work for the organisation. * European Environment Agency Professor Jacqueline McGlade (47), a British-Canadian environmental scientist, has been appointed the next Executive Director of the European Environment Agency (EEA), the main European-level provider of environmental information to policy-makers and the public. Prof. McGlade is expected to take up her new post by June 1 in succession to Gordon McInnes, who has been Interim Executive Director since the end of May 2002. * BVSE The German secondary material processors association BVSE has appointed Xandra Metzmann as its new Managing Director in succession to Peter Wolff. Mrs Metzman had been a legal consultant to BVSE for more than three years.
