European organisations and stakeholders active in the field of extended producer responsibility (EPR) for vehicles have launched the ELV Forum, an international non-profit association under Belgian law, headquartered in Brussels.

The launch by Febelauto and ARN, the Belgian and Dutch EPR organisations respectively, was announced during the International Automotive Recycling Congress in Hamburg, Germany. The initiative follows nearly four years of informal cooperation between the different players in the sector.

A ‘better-structured’ market

With the creation of the ELV Forum, the organisations aim to strengthen coordination at the European and international level and contribute to the development of a ‘more circular and better-structured market’ for the recycling and management of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs).

This initiative stems from a new European regulation on ELVs which is expected to enter into force in the Autumn.
