Belgium’s recycling equipment supplier Lefort has acquired US-based Aljon of Iowa. Following the takeover of French Copex in 2023, this new transaction represents an important milestone in Lefort Group’s global growth strategy, says company ceo Alexandre Henkens.
Founded in 1963, Aljon specialises in balers and crushers for the scrap metal and end-of-life vehicle recycling industry. The US$ 40 million (EUR 35 million) revenue company also produces landfill balers for the waste industry and assembles snow removal equipment. It has 50 employees.
US, Canada, Mexico
Aljon serves customers primarily across North America. Building on their complementary expertise and shared commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Lefort and Aljon will offer an even ‘more comprehensive’ range of machines and services to recyclers across the US, Canada and Mexico.
‘Exciting’ opportunities
The acquisition strengthens Lefort America, launched in 2014, and further reinforces the Group’s position in the market US market, says ceo Henkens. ‘It marks another milestone in our growth in North America and the implementation of our strategic plan. I am confident that the combination of our expertise will create exciting opportunities and strengthen our ability to support our customers over the long term with increasingly comprehensive, high performance solutions tailored to their needs.’
International growth
According to Henkens, the transaction underlines Lefort’s ambition to continue its international growth ‘while consolidating its position among the world’s leading providers of recycling equipment’.
