Italy spotlights Life Green Vulcan project

The Italian government is celebrating Rubber Conversion’s Life Green Vulcan R&D project as its  ‘project of the month’.

The project, which is part of the Life Programme, showcases the ‘groundbreaking’ use of recycled rubber in high-tech industrial applications.

Through Rubber Conversion’s technology, car maker Stellantis is using spring pads containing 20% recycled rubber. Project partner Bridgestone developed a car tyre tread with 10% recycled rubber by weight.

Sustainable manufacturing

This is seen as a major step on the road to decarbonising the production of tyres, automotive components and footwear.

The use of high-quality recycled rubber not only leads to ‘substantial savings’ in virgin and natural rubber but also aligns with the European Union’s Deforestation Regulation by significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

The EU Commission believes this marks a milestone in sustainable manufacturing and offers ‘promising prospects’ for the industry.

Global recognition

Founded in 2017 in Verona, Rubber Conversion is quickly gaining international recognition as a key supplier of sustainable rubber for various sectors. The company’s patented devulcanisation technology has won numerous prestigious awards, with backing from prominent investors including CDP Venture Capital Fund.
