Global – Alexandre Delacoux, director general of BIR since September 2013, has parted company with the world recycling organisation.
In a letter to members, BIR president Ranjit Baxi thanks Delacoux for his services and wishes him well in his future endeavours. He also confirms that, pending the appointment of a successor, the BIR secretariat in Brussels is being run by its three directors – Ross Bartley, Elisabeth Christ and Anja Wimmer – with the full support of the executive committee.
Alexandre Delacoux joined BIR as general manager in October 2012, having worked previously for, among others, trade association European Biopharmaceutical Enterprises, Micropower Europe and DuPont. During his time at BIR, he promoted in particular the need for the global body to expand its membership to regions of the world where growth opportunities were perceived to exist, including Latin America, and to develop its role as a source of reliable recycling information and of legislative back-up.
