Hammel Recyclingtechnik of Germany has unveiled its first Hammel Fine Shredder, a high-speed unit designed specifically to handle fresh wood, green waste, branches and bushes (up to a diameter of 300 mm), forest residues, bark and waste wood.
Its development reflects the many enquiries from waste disposal companies with smaller throughputs for a machine capable of processing all accumulated materials.
According to the company, one of the advantages of the KompbiStar is that raw material is loaded directly into the automatically-operated feed hopper and goes through the feed roller into the shredding rotor, thereby guaranteeing continuous and permanent material feeding. In addition, a load-dependent feed control is built into the machine. If material is too dense, the feed belt revolution speed is automatically regulated and adjusted to prevent blockages in the rotor, which is equipped with bolt-on hammers. The machines produce an end product smaller than 50 mm at throughputs of up to 20 tonnes per hour depending on the material. After processing, the material can be used for composting or incineration.
The shredder is fitted with a 350 hp Caterpillar diesel engine and measures 2500 mm (W) x 3000 mm (H) x 8300 mm (L).
