United States – US bike brand ReCycle has created three different versions of what are being heralded as ‘the world’s first 100% recycled aluminium bikes’ and as ‘the greenest transportation option available anywhere’.
The series includes an all-terrain bicycle, a cruiser and a fixed/single-speed bike – all of which are ‘the ultimate expression of green cred’, states the California-based company’s founder Bryce Edmonds.
Inspiration was drawn from a reusable grocery bag with the ‘recycled ingredients’ printed on it. ReCycle explains: ‘It read: aluminum, rubber, plastic and we thought ‘Hey, those are bike parts!’ And a few years later, our prototypes are alive, well and rolling down the streets of Los Angeles.’
To further its efforts, the team behind ReCycle is hoping to collect US$ 105 000 via the popular fund-raising platform Kickstarter.
