Looking to replace an underperforming shredder and increase processing capacity, Canada’s recycling firm John Zubick has invested in a new car shredder at its London, Ontario facility.
The upgrade has already delivered significant gains in throughput, efficiency, material quality and recovery, according to company vp Ben Zubick. He selected the Wendt M6090 for its flexibility, performance and ability to support future expansion. ‘The versatility of the M6090 made Wendt the clear choice,’ he says. ‘Its frame can adapt to multiple infeed and downstream configurations, creating opportunities for future growth.’
The M6090 features a 2 500 hp drive system with variable frequency drive technology, a Wendt bowe disc rotor and modular support equipment designed for efficient operation.
Production boost
Since May 2026, the new shredder has transformed production capabilities. Running four days per week, the company expects to process some 5 000 tonnes per month. ‘The shredder is already producing 40-50 tonnes per hour, compared with some 15 tonnes per hour from our previous system,’ says Zubick. ‘We have seen significant improvements in production, material quality, efficiency, density and cleanliness.’
Broad metal infeed
A third-generation, family-owned recycling company, John Zubick has built its operation through 80 years of investment in advanced processing technology. Operating on a 23-acre site, the company processes a wide range of materials, including automotive scrap, appliances and metals.
