One of northern Europe’s leading recycling companies, Kuusakoski, has appointed Markku Multamäki as its new president and ceo.

Multamäki brings with him extensive experience in industry and strategic leadership. He was previously managing director at Sweden’s Lantmännen Agro, a specialist in agriculture, machinery, bioenergy and food products, and before that had several roles at steel maker SSAB and was a strategy consultant at Boston Consulting Group.

Electrification, ‘green’ steel main drivers

‘I am truly excited to lead Kuusakoski, a recycling pioneer and a strong international player,’ says Multamäki. ‘The recycling industry is at a fascinating juncture: demand for materials like copper is growing, driven by the energy transition, the electrification of industrial processes and transport, and the expansion of data centres. Also, planned investments in the steel industry will eventually drive the need for recycled steel.’

Multamäki will be based at Kuusakoski’s headquarters in Espoo, Finland, and will oversee all the company’s operations globally.
