Steel scrap developments on the radar

The Netherlands – After three successful years in Istanbul, Metal Bulletin has transferred its 4th annual Steel Scrap Conference to the Dutch city of Rotterdam – described as an ‘ideal’ gathering place for the industry. The event will be held on September 22-23 at the Hilton Hotel. Key topics for discussion this year will include: consolidation, mergers and acquisitions; whether the scrap industry is too fragmented; Japanese scrap availability; the effect of the situation in Ukraine on crude steel output; circumventing depletion of scrap grades; recent trends in bulk shipping; scrap’s role in India’s explosive steel industry; and the health of the Turkish shipbreaking market.
The list of event speakers features: Bernard Beyne, ceo of Galloo Gent; Robert Fig, senior business development executive at the LME; and Carl De Maré, innovation officer at leading steelmaker ArcelorMittal.
