RWM 2014: showcasing debate and innovation

United Kingdom – The UK’s leading show of its type over many decades, the RWM 2014 exhibition will open its doors at the NEC in Birmingham from September 16 to 18. This major recycling event will feature 150 speakers and 750 exhibitors, and is expected to attract some 13 000 visitors from around the world.

Key speakers at RWM will include Roy Vercoulen, vice president Europe of Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation. Meanwhile, under the Local Authority Theatre umbrella, the UK′s secretary of state for communities and local government Eric Pickles will present a keynote speech on September 17.

SITA UK ceo David Palmer-Jones will share the same stage, offering his vision of ′harnessing innovation to create a restorative economy′. Also, Waste & Resources Action Plan founder Ray Georgeson will shine a light on ′guaranteeing a higher-quality recyclate′.

RWM′s Circular Economy Connect Theatre will cover a wide range of topics such as: bringing sustainability into the business conscience; closed-loop strategies pioneered by the Product-Life Institute Geneva; and leading by example, where a specialist panel of business bosses will share their know-how.

′The really good thing is government is intent on driving enforcement of quality standards,′ says Ian McAulay, ceo of Viridor and a guest speaker in Birmingham. ′I think that′s essential for the industry in eliminating waste crime, in eliminating poor-quality performance and poor-quality product, and making sure that those that provide the high-quality service are the ones that benefit.′

According to organisers, RWM will ′showcase the industry in the scale it demands′ by moving to Halls 4 & 5 and an outdoor area of the NEC to provide more space for enhanced features and product demonstrations.
