Global – Oxford Instruments has added a new model to its range of mPulse handheld metal alloy analysers: the mPulse+ is claimed to be ‘the fastest aluminium sorter on the market’.
Said to be ‘up to 10 times faster’ than any handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF) spectrometer, it is able to separate close grades such as aluminium 6061 and 6063 ‘in just one second’. mPulse and mPulse+ harness laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technology, claimed to be ‘100% free’ from the regulatory constraints usually associated with X-ray analysers.
‘This means that costly and time-consuming radiation safety training classes and user certifications are not required,’ stresses the company. Designed with low cost of ownership in mind, both models feature a strong sapphire window in the analyser’s nose, protecting the analysis head, safeguarding against the need for repairs and preventing contamination of the optics.
