said Braga. ‘Imagine booking hotels,
flights, food – you name it, it’s really
impressive.’ DIM days include site vis-
its all over Europe but also in the US,
China and Egypt.
SHOPPING LIST
IFAT 2024 welcomed 160 000 visitors
from all over the world. Olov Boman
and Ronny Hjelm of metal recycler
Kuusakoski had come from northern
Sweden to Munich. ‘Our shopping list
contains new yard tools, mostly elec-
tric,’ said Boman. ‘Reduction of CO2
emissions is top priority at Kuusakoski
so we’re moving more and more
towards electric solutions. Apart from
the environmental issue, energy is
cheap where we live, thanks to hydro
power. So in that perspective, too, it
really makes sense to switch to elec-
tric-driven machines.’
MAXIMUM PURITY
As always, IFAT was the place to be
when it comes to the launch of new
technology, projects and partnerships.
Amongst the many companies display-
ing their latest innovations was
Steinert, which proudly promoted its
UniSort Finealyse+ system.
‘We developed this sensor sorter to
meet the increasing demands encoun-
tered when sorting fine-grain bulk
seven small shredders for biowaste
each costing EUR 180 000.’
The shredder producer occupied a
huge platform in the outside demon-
stration area, with ten or so mostly
mobile shredders. ‘Mobile solutions
are very popular these days,’ said
Mackowiak. ‘A big proportion of the
machines we sell are for hire so you
need flexible machines that are easy
to move from one location to another.
Pronar is a big company with a 3 000
workforce. Headquartered in Narew
near the Polish-Belarus border, it oper-
ates nine factories. Shredders are
exported to more than 80 countries
worldwide, with North America cur-
rently being the biggest growth mar-
ket.
GET-TOGETHER IN ITALY
It has been a busy and successful year
so far for Italy’s recycling equipment
manufacturer Danieli, with the IFAT
show being one of the highlights,
according to sales manager Davide
Braga. Elsewhere, the company has
recently been involved in major shear
and shredder installations in Iceland,
Albania, Brazil, UK and Chile, among
others.
Another highlight this year was the
Danieli Innovation Meeting (DIM).
Held every three to four years, the lat-
est gathering was immediately after
IFAT. Some 700 steel professionals
from 73 countries were flown in to
Danieli’s headquarters in northern Italy
to catch up and learn from the compa-
ny’s latest innovations. ‘We invest mil-
lions of euros to get this organised,’
Pronar’s Hubert Mackowiak.
