It’s been a great year so far for Lindemann Metal Recycling Solutions but the best is yet to come,
observes company ceo Ioannis Giouvanitskas. He describes Lindemann as a full-solution provider for
the global metal recycling market in the medium term. ‘In our core markets, Lindemann is to become
the first in mind and choice’.
Since September 2022, after more
than 20 years as part of the Finnish
Metso Group, Germany’s metal recy-
cling machinery specialist Lindemann is
again operating independently from its
Düsseldorf base, under the safe wings
of Swedish investor Mimir and with a
new name: Lindemann Metal Recycling
Solutions.
Mimir has all the resources needed to
support Lindemann in expanding its
leading role in the market, to lift the
company to the next level and to
return its focus to the core values of
founder Waldemar Lindemann: quality,
performance and innovation. The
Dusseldorf HQ is home to its depart-
ments, administration and a service
centre. ‘The connections to our inter-
national sites are ideal from here,’ says
ceo Ioannis Giouvanitskas. Lindemann
currently has 200 employees at 14
locations worldwide.
A large part of the machine manufac-
turing takes place at a modern produc-
tion site near the German-Dutch bor-
der, some 150 km from Dusseldorf. It
was here in early January that
Giouvanitskas and his team welcomed
some 300 customers to share the latest
in advanced shredder, shear and baler
technology.
GROWING BUSINESS
Lindemann believes demand for global
steel will continue to rise in the medi-
um term and demand for secondary
raw materials like steel and scrap metal
will also increase significantly. ‘Due to
ever-strict environmental regulations
being implemented across the globe,
production in many countries is being
switched to more energy-efficient pro-
cesses such as electric arc furnaces
which can utilise up to 100% steel
scrap.’
Obviously, this development is having
a strong, positive impact on
Lindemann’s business. The company
has been witnessing growing demand
for new machines as well as for service.
In addition, as a premium supplier,
Lindemann is frequently asked to deliv-
er ‘sustainable, complete solutions in
all our business areas’.
FUTURE-PROOF APPROACH
Giouvanitskas sees Lindemann as a full-
solution provider for the global metal
recycling market in the medium term.
‘We want to invest even more in new
technologies, drive digitisation forward
and increasingly take on environmental
issues such as the reduction of emis-
sion values through state-of-the-art de-
dusting systems,’ he explains.

BUILDING A CAREER WITHIN THE
LINDEMANN ‘FAMILY’
Ioannis Giouvanitskas joined Lindemann in 2006,
starting in the project management department. At
that time metal recycling was a business unit within
the Finnish Metso corporation. Giouvanitskas has
held various management positions and, in 2022
when Lindemann became a part of the Swedish
investment group Mimir, he was appointed ceo of
Lindemann Metal Recycling Solutions.
