international private equity fund that has

But more importantly, C&G has redesigned its
product line with an updated and broader Tau-
rus portfolio as well as a new range of machines
marketed under the Sasco name. ‘Furthermore,
an innovative type of hammer mill has been
designed, the MyMid, which has been tested
and is now ready to be launched in the market,’
says C&G’s technical director and shareholder
Claudio Colombo.
Swinging wing trademark
In an expanding and ever-changing market, says
Colombo, C&G has always been ‘in tune with
customer needs and often capable of anticipat-
ing market trends with inventions and innova-
tions’ that were then proposed again by other
manufacturers. ‘In fact, C&G is known both
nationally and internationally because of the
overall quality and technical strength of its
range of Taurus balers and shear balers, with
500 to 2000 tonnes of cutting force,’ he notes.
The new generation of Taurus shear balers is an
evolution of the consolidated and original
‘swinging wing’ system which is the trademark
of Taurus products. Providing over stroke on
both lids, these now feature a new wing geom-
etry with an increased lever arm size and a reca-
librated location of the cylinders.
A number of additional features is said to mark
out Taurus as ‘one of the best’ in its category,
including: a Vibration Dumping Platform,
lasers, interchangeable liners and double cylin-
der on the shears.
The Taurus range of machines is designed to
withstand high stresses during the compressing
and shearing of scrap metal. The machines are
suitable for processing a large variety of scrap
by either shearing or baling.
To embrace a new market segment, C&G has
studied current trends and accordingly designed
new shears and balers for small and medium-
sized yards under the brand name Sasco.
Sasco shears and balers are categorised as entry-
to mid-level machines designed to process a
variety of scrap types with a cutting capacity of
400-750 tonnes and an hourly output of up to
15 tonnes. Sasco balers use a compression sys-
tem supported by an L-shaped compression
box. Owing to their solid design and strong bal-
ing capabilities, Sasco balers are claimed to be
top of the range when it comes to scrap metal
compression baling.
Sasco products are available with either electric
motors or diesel engines and can be supplied as
stationary, transportable or fully-mobile units
depending on customer requirements.
A new way to recover
MyMid is a new concept in small hammer mills.
Featuring ‘the most advanced technologies
available’, the MyMach MyMid shreds and sep-
arates poor quality scrap from a wide variety of
materials, including electronics, engines, alu-
minium sheet and crankcases.
MyMach represents a new way to recover raw
materials from waste. The MyMid hammer mill
can be equipped with a compression box to
reduce the volume and for easy feeding of scrap
prior to shredding. The shredded scrap is top
and bottom discharged while an ejection door
for ‘unshreddables’ is situated at the bottom of
the grinding chamber.
The machine is said to minimise both space
requirements and energy costs. The MyMid
comes in a variety of sizes with outputs ranging
from 2 to 20 tonnes per hour. The downstream
separation of non-ferrous from ferrous results
in a ferrous product with a ‘95 to 97%’ purity
and also in compact, uniform scrap with a high
density of 1000 kg per cubic metre.
America here we come
The launch of this new product follows years of
development and testing. To illustrate, the new
MyMach series of hammermill shredders has
been tested for three years at a major scrap yard
near Naples in the south of Italy and is now close
to further roll-out: first Italy, then the European
market.
Worldwide distribution will come next ‘with the
North American market firmly on our radar’, as
Gualtiero Rudella, C&G’s main shareholder
representative, puts it. ‘With our continued
investment in new technologies and keeping
our finger on the pulse of what metal recyclers
of today are asking for, Taurus gives us a fore-
front position in metal recycling technology for
many years to come.’
