Sierra Europe unveils new SP shear baler
Granutech-Saturn beefs up Grizzly grinder
HSM drive to lower energy usage
Sierra Europe, the Italy-based
processing solutions specialist,
has added to its SP shear baler
series.
Featuring an enhanced cutting mecha-
nism, the SP880 shear baler is said to be
robust as well as effi cient. Characterised
by its heavy, stable structure and innova-
tive hydraulics plant, the new baler is
available in stationary, semi-mobile and
mobile confi gurations. Another feature
of the SP880 is a box design that enables
completely automated closure of the lids,
ensuring improved material compaction.
The cutting force of the baler ranges from
550 to 1100 tonnes. The stroke of the
cylinders can be managed through the
introduction of position transducers for
programming cut lengths. Optimum cut-
ting speed is achieved through a minimum
cutting length starting at only 15 cm and
the option of continuous intelligent stroke
supervision, says the Italian manufacturer.
All SP models are equipped with a
Human Machine Interface (HMI) to assist
the operator in troubleshooting. This
allows rapid identifi cation of even very
slight anomalies, the company explains.

US-based Granutech-Saturn Sys-
tems has developed a ‘more
voracious version’ of its Grizzly
grinder named the Super 80
model. Boasting a serrated knife
design, the new grinder is said
to achieve a higher torque and
notably more horsepower.
The Super 80 Grizzly was engineered to
process tyre chips at a higher volume
while making a smaller product. Though
created primarily for the tyre recycling
industry, the equipment can also be of
benefi t in other applications such as pro-
cessing electronic scrap and aluminium.
Retaining various key features such as
liner plates in the housing, a two-piece
screen and multi-edge reusable knives,
the grinder incorporates a number of
elements that have been either added
or improved, including larger shafts and
bearings, a solid one-piece forged rotor,
and a higher capacity gearbox.
In combination with the serrated knife
design, this helps the Super 80 Grizzly
to provide nearly four times more torque
than before, additionally allowing it to
produce a new record of up to 8 tonnes
of chippings per hour.

HSM GmbH + Co. KG, the German
manufacturer of baling presses,
PET solutions, document shred-
ders and cutting machines, has
premiered a new energy-saving
drive concept for its HSM VK
8818 R fully-automatic channel
baling press.
This innovation makes it possible to use
less drive power for the same through-
put and press stroke cycle times. Spe-
cifi cally, the frequency-controlled option
increases the energy effi ciency of the
system, thus saving close to 40% power
consumption compared to standard
types. The result is said to be a more
effi cient production process as the num-
ber of starts and stops is reduced while
the load on machine parts is minimised.
Equipped with a high pressing force of
1000 kN and a large filling hatch of
approximately 990 x 1800 mm, the bal-
ing press is suitable for a variety of pro-
fessional disposal management and
large industrial applications. It is capable
of handling cardboard, paper and foil as
well as bulky materials such as DSD
products, sorted waste material and
substitute fuels.

The practical requirements for
truck-mounted cranes are
becoming increasingly demand-
ing, with ever greater emphasis
on profi tability and speed,
observes Austria-based Palfi n-
ger AG. ‘This is precisely what
drove the development of our
PK 36502 and PK 41002 EH High
Performance models,’ it states.
The two new additions to the company’s
product list can cover a wide spectrum
of applications, ranging for
example from con-
tainer transport to
heavy load
applica-
tions. Both come with a double rack and
pinion slewing system, delivering a high
slewing moment with low slewing toler-
ance, in turn allowing for extra-fast load
handling. The latter is amplified by a
Power Link Plus feature which allows
crane work to be carried out smoothly
even while manoeuvring in tight spaces.
Constant lifting power is achieved across
the whole working range owing to the
Power Link knuckle-boom system.
Equipped with up to six hydraulic exten-
sions, both cranes boast a hydrau-
lic outreach of 16.3 metres.
