With a fresh focus on ease of
operation, Dutch recycling tech-
nology specialist Goudsmit
Magnetic Systems has enhanced
its eccentric eddy current sepa-
rators. ‘The separation plate is
now more easily accessible with
the result that the machine can
be set more accurately and pre-
cise grade recovery values can
be obtained,’ the company
states.
According to Goudsmit, the redesigned
separation plate is adjustable in both
the X and Y direction while, at the same
time, a hinged plate has been installed
to safeguard all settings. The handling
of the equipment
has been further
simplified by
the placement
of a tracing
roller above
the plate which
is designed to
force diffi cult products –

for example, long components or balled
material – in the right direction.
Additionally, the eccentric magnet rotor
can be adjusted to various angles in
respect of the outer casing, which allows
operators to influence the moment of
extraction of non-ferrous metals. ‘Since the
magnet rotor is placed eccentrically in
respect of the outer casing, iron particles
cannot become attached to the outer cas-
ing and thus cause in-banding problems,’
notes Goudsmit.

German manufacturer Doosan
Infracore Construction Equipment
has added to its crawler excava-
tor range with the DX700LC – its
largest model yet. The top-of-
the-range 71.5-tonne heavy-
weight is said by its developer
to ‘combine the highest levels of
performance and durability’.
The DX700LC has been built with the
aim of maximising productivity in demo-
lition and many other applications,
including mass excavation and truck
loading, through high lift capacities. Key
features include ‘huge’ engine power,
traction, bucket and arm breakout
‘Designed with safety as the
main priority, all cutting actions
take place within a fully-guarded
and fume-free environment, and
the operator has no access to a
cutting blade,’ says the UK’s JMC
Recycling Systems of its new cat-
alytic converter processing sys-
tem called the CAT Guillotine.
JMC’s new development enables high
volumes of catalytic converters to be cut
up and the contents removed at a rate
of one ‘every 30 seconds’. In trials, the
machine succeeded in processing
between 40 and 50 catalytic converters
in a 30-minute period on a single guil-
German baling specialist HSM
has refi ned two of its ‘all-round-
ers’ – namely the HSM HL 3521
and the HSM HL 3521 S horizontal
baling presses – to incorporate a
new safety concept. The previous
protection grid has been
replaced with light curtains/light
barriers to make the presses
safer in use while simultaneous-
ly reducing handling work.
With a pressing power of up to 320 kN,
the models yield an hourly output of up
to seven bales. ‘They can even press
highly-expansive
foams and bulky
materials with ease,’
states the manufac-
turer. ‘Thanks to the
new distance mea-
suring system for the
press ram, any num-
ber of different bale
forces, states its German manufacturer.
Besides short cycle times for demolition
and all its other applications, the
DX700LC excavator boasts a ‘world-
class’ cab which is described as, at once,
comfortable, spacious, ergonomic and
quiet. This ensures ‘virtually perfect con-
trollability’ for optimum performance as
well as protection for both operator and
the machine itself, Doosan claims.

lengths can be set, not just two as previ-
ously, so the user can respond fl exibly to
different requirements.’
Also, by selecting the ‘maintenance posi-
tion’ menu item, the press ram can be
moved to a specifi c position, making it
comfortable and easy to clean the ball
press.

lotine system with gantry, according to
the manufacturer.
An important feature of the new CAT
Guillotine system is that the operator is
separated from the cutting chamber by
a Perspex door. The blade cannot move
unless the door is closed such that the
operator is totally protected. To start the
process, the operator must press two but-
tons located on each side of the chamber.
‘The CAT Guillotine can keep up with
your fastest operator, whilst keeping him
at a safe distance from the cutting blade,’
states JMC Recycling Systems’ managing
director Phillip Pownall.
The CAT Guillotine can be supplied with
or without a gantry, and as single or
double systems.
