The 16th International Congress for
Battery Recycling (ICBR) is expect-
ed to attract a wide range of dele-
gates, including recyclers, legisla-
tors, scientists and other experts.
Together, they will share a passion
for battery recycling and will want
to be updated on the latest develop-
ments affecting conventional bat-
teries or new hi-tech alternatives.
The forthcoming ICBR is to be held
in an extraordinary place – the
Grand Hotel Excelsior in Venice –
and will be attended by some high-
profile speakers, including Ruska
Kelevska of the EU Environment
Directorate (Waste Management);
Luigi Pelaggi, Technical Secretary of
the Ministry of the Environment
Land & Sea in Italy; and Iain Jawad,
Frost & Sullivan’s Director – Strate-
gic Partnerships.
Among the topics to be discussed
will be: the impact of legislation on
battery collection and the recycling
industry worldwide; new challeng-
es faced by battery manufacturers
and the recycling industry; fast-
developing markets and collection
opportunities; and new recycling
technologies. The event will also
feature a panel discussion entitled:
‘Is the industry ready for the electric
vehicle boom?’
On the final day of the congress, del-
egates will have an opportunity to
embark on a plant tour of prominent
battery manufacturer FIAMM or on
a sightseeing tour of the city of Venice.
The congress will provide not only a
platform to exchange latest informa-
tion but also an opportunity for the
development of new contacts, not
least through a cocktail reception and
networking dinner. An exhibition
and poster presentation area is to be
incorporated into the congress facil-
ity for vendors and service providers
to meet existing and potential clients.
