What is the economic impact of the
reduced availability of car bodies to
shredder companies? And how do
car manufacturers and the industry
close the recycling loop? These and
other topics will be highlighted at
the 14th International Automobile
Recycling Congress (IARC 2014) to
be held at the Dolce la Hulpe Brus-
sels hotel in the Belgian capital.
Representatives from industry, the
authorities and academia will present
information on latest developments
and challenges relating to the end-of-
life vehicles business. The congress
will bring together the various links
in the recycling chain such as car
manufacturers, metals and plastics
scrap traders, recyclers, shredder
operators and policy-makers.
A large exhibition area will be inte-
grated into the conference facilities.
In addition, participants will have
the opportunity to take a test drive
in a BMW i3 electric car – a quarter
of whose interior is made of recycled
material or renewable resources,
according to the German auto giant.
Congress organisers will be offering
plant tours to ARN in the Nether-
lands, as well as to Groupe Comet and
Toyota Motor Manufacturing France.
