Organisers of the upcoming Recy-
cling and Waste Management
(RWM) trade show in the UK’s sec-
ond city of Birmingham are creat-
ing a ‘Top 25’ of young and promis-
ing entrepreneurs within the
international recycling industry in
a bid to inspire a new generation of
resource managers.
RWM organisers i2i Events Group,
in partnership with the UK’s Char-
tered Institution of Wastes Manage-
ment (CIWM), are looking for
individuals who have introduced
new recycling practices within the
last five years that are helping to
transform their organisation and
the industry as a whole.
‘As part of RWM’s mission to drive
industry growth and innovation, we
need to support a new generation
of leaders,’ comments Russell
Bacon, environment portfolio
director at the i2i Events Group. The
‘rising stars’ competition will serve
to celebrate the dynamic character
of the industry, he adds.
Three finalists will be selected to
present to a panel of judges at RWM
2015, which takes place at the
National Exhibition Centre in Bir-
mingham. The winner will receive
a CIWM training package and
funding towards their initiative
worth Euro 2800.

The annual International Congress
for Battery Recycling (ICBR) will
take place against the impressive
backdrop of Lake Geneva as the
conference will be held in the Swiss
city of Montreux.
The recycling event will shed light
on various pressing matters, such
as: new developments in battery
legislation worldwide; safety issues
and transportation regulations;
recycling efficiency; the future for
LEV, EHV, PEHV and EV battery
systems; and the success of lithium-
ion battery technologies.
This year’s workshops will shine the
spotlight on lithium battery trans-
portation as well as safety concerns.
In addition, ICM has organised a
plant tour to the Batrec Industrie
battery recycling plant at Wimmis.
The congress has proved to be ‘a
perfect platform’ to exchange the
latest information, meet business
partners and obtain easy access to
potential new clients, according to
the organisers. For this purpose, a
vendor exhibition and poster pre-
sentation area will be integrated
into the congress facility.
Exclusively for ICBR 2015 partici-
pants, myStromer will offer e-bike
test drives during the congress.
